SDG Knowledge Hub Launch Event in Geneva

To commemorate the launch of the new SDG Knowledge Hub, IISD will host a panel discussion on the role of knowledge management in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Consolidating Knowledge for SDG Implementation: Is a 'one-stop-shop' possible?

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will serve as the over-riding framework for domestic and international development over the next fourteen years. If the global community is to achieve the Agenda’s ambitious SDGs, transformative approaches will have to be developed for every aspect of the implementation challenge. 

These transformations will need to extend from high-level governance decision-making to local level efforts, and should include the ways that we gather and present knowledge as well as actions taken in pursuit of the 17 SDGs. During the negotiation of the SDGs, some countries called for creating a “dashboard” for tracking information about SDG implementation, but is this possible given the complex and contextually-specific nature of national level action and solutions? This panel will feature 4 leading experts on SDG Implementation who will explore ​unique approaches to knowledge management and discuss how UN Agencies, intergovernmental organizations, civil society and academia can best provide the knowledge that the international community needs to implement and track SDG progress.
