Putting Lao PDR's Agricultural Contracts into Practice: A workshop on implementing new legal instruments
The International Institute for Sustainable Development is hosting a workshop for representatives of Lao PDR ministries on the implementation of new legal instruments for responsible agricultural investment.
"Putting Lao PDR's Agricultural Contracts into Practice: A workshop on implementing new legal instruments" will take place in Vientiane on July 13–14, 2016.
The event will build on IISD's previous work advising the Lao PDR government on its legislative framework for investment in agriculture.
Participants will work directly with recently introduced legal instruments—including the National Land Policy, Land Law and Standard Environmental and Social Obligations—to develop a hands-on understanding. Participants will have the chance to clarify aspects of the instruments and legal framework, and will develop an action plan for how to apply these documents in practice in the context of investment. IISD will provide tips and advice on approaches to, and tools for, screening of potential agricultural investments and on how officials can prepare for and conduct contractual negotiations.
