Innovation for Sustainability in the Mining Sector
The Sustainability Forum will discuss the important role that innovation will play in the mining sector to help achieve the SDGs. Innovation can take many forms, including technology, finance, business models and partnerships throughout all stages of mine development.
The IGF will be co-hosting a Sustainability Forum on the sidelines of the 2017 PDAC Convention in Toronto, Canada with our partners, the World Economic Forum and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada.
Meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 will require unprecedented cooperation and collaboration among governments, the private sector, communities and non-governmental organizations. The mining sector has the opportunity and potential to positively contribute to all 17 SDGs. Many of the minerals produced by mining are also essential building blocks for technologies, infrastructure, energy and agriculture.
This Sustainability Forum will discuss the important role that innovation will play in the mining sector to help achieve the SDGs. Innovation can take many forms, including technology, finance, business models and partnerships throughout all stages of mine development.
