Consultation on Innovative Financing Mechanisms for Sustainable Infrastructures for UEMOA Members States Officials
IISD, in partnership with West Africa Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) and in collaboration with Société Générale, is hosting a training workshop in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, from October 2–4, 2018, on innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable infrastructures.
IISD, in partnership with West Africa Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) and in collaboration with Société Générale, is hosting a training workshop in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, from October 2–4, 2018, on innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable infrastructures.
The workshop will cover a variety of topics, including:
- An overview of innovative financing for infrastructure and implications from a sustainable development perspective
- A review of innovative financing strategies, including: bonds, tax increment finance, tokenization, private saving accounts, PPPs, climate finance and impact finance
- An introduction to IISD Sustainable Asset Valuation (SAVi) methodology
- Cases studies, business games and role playing, as well as sessions for sharing experiences
The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on sustainable infrastructures, as well as financing opportunities and challenges in the region. The participants will be also introduced to the SAVi tool developed by IISD and how it can be used in the planning and financing of infrastructures from a sustainable development perspective.
